Medical Services
Spurgeon’s onsite medical offerings are designed to offer unparalleled convenience, ensuring that health and well-being are our top priority. With our compassionate healthcare professionals, we offer a range of specialized medical services tailored to meet the unique needs of those we serve.

Long-Term Nursing & Memory Care
Physician: Dr. Scott Hanson, D.O., with Curana Health, serves as our medical director and is available for primary care or as needed for acute needs or consultation. Residents and tenants may continue to see their own physician, but they must be seen in accordance with state regulations when using their own doctor.
Podiatry: Central Iowa Foot Clinic provides care on a quarterly basis. Fees for these services are billed to your insurance provider.
Laboratory: Mercy Labs provides services when ordered by your physician. Fees for these services are billed to your insurance provider.
Rehabilitative Services: Licensed therapists from RehabVisions provide physical, occupational, and speech therapy services. Fees for these services are billed to your insurance provider.
Optometry: The doctors from Eye Care Associates provide eye care on an as-needed basis.
Pharmacy: Right Dose Pharmacy is our current provider for those living in our nursing facility. Assisted living tenants select their own pharmacy.
Beauty Salon: Our licensed beautician is on-site twice each week to provide haircuts, styling, permanents, shampoos, and sets.
Chapel: Our Edith Crouse Chapel is located in the nursing facility and available to all who reside at Spurgeon Senior Community.
Daily Activities: There’s never a dull moment around Spurgeon! From crafts, games, social activities to spiritual gatherings and worship services, we have something for everyone. Activities Calendars
Exercise Room: Each level of care has dedicated space for wellness and exercise. These well-outfitted rooms include treadmills, a nu-step bike, and other equipment.
Common Areas: Our comfortable lounge areas include couches, TVs and other seating. These areas are great for visiting with family and friends when more space is needed.
Library: We are blessed to have a tremendous collection of reading materials, puzzles and games available in each of our libraries located in nursing and assisted living.
Food Services: Three nutritious, seasonal meals are served daily. Guests are welcome to join for meals for a nominal fee. Food Menus
Notary Services: The Business Office is open Monday through Friday and also offers notary services.
Resident and Tenant Councils: The councils provide residents and tenants input into the decisions, procedures, and activities that affect them.
Wireless Internet: Free Internet access is throughout the various buildings.
